About
Cameroonian- American songstress Libianca first became enchanted with the world of music at an early age, mostly when her babysitter would sing covers of popular songs to her and around the house. The music playing during Libianca’s childhood included: gospel, R&B,
Afrobeats, and makossa – a Cameroonian genre that is a blend of rumba, funk, highlife, and many
other eclectic sounds. Her upbringing consisted of church and singing with the congregation. Alongside church, Libianca would also attend school showcases and perform at games to practice singing in public. After ten years of development and training to hone her talents, Libianca is becoming a true artist.
In the early stages of her career, the 23- year old singer went from open mics in her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, to being on the voice season 21, to breaking records with her hit single “People”. “People” went certified platinum in various countries and charted No. 2 on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs Chart.
Her smash hit has resonated with the world in words beyond measure. The soulful songwriter espouses vulnerability, empathy, and emotion through sweet melodies in a mission to ‘heal the world’ and ‘allow people to accept themselves.’ She addresses different struggles and experiences,
particularly touching on the emotions we face with substance abuse or mental health. Many of her fans feel recognised and engage with Libianca on social media, discussing her positive impact on their well-being and how her music acts as a form of therapy. Not only does she have an incredible voice, but Libianca’s trilingual upbringing, consisting of Pidgin, English and French, have influenced her to arrange her music around the many languages she speaks.
After her successful debut, she went on to work all over the world with world renowned artists such as Ayra Starr, Omah Lay, Becky G, Jae5, Chloe Bailey and countless others.
Within a year, she became a BET award winner, NAACP and Brit award nominee. Last summer, she completed a collaboration tour with top charting artist Alicia Keys in key cities like Washington DC, New York City, Toronto, Atlanta and is being invited to promotional events around the world. Following the release of her EP “Walk Away” in December of 2023, she wanted to portray the weight that she had been carrying in her life because of her fear of being perceived as weak or bad. The biggest part of overcoming that fear was her process of cultivating the project. Her accepting who she is and reminding people that they are human and that not being perfect is alright, is what has made her appeal to her fans the most.
The top charting artist used genres such as R&B/AfroSoul with artists Oxlade and Chloe Bailey and Afro/Hiphop with Blaqbonez and Moliy to give her fans an emotional ride to loving oneself.
